EL CENTRO — El Centro Regional Medical Center CEO Pablo Velez presented the El Centro City Council with an update on the hospital and its future Tuesday night with the merger of the Imperial Valley Hospital District.

He said there are 11 groups looking into what everything would look like and what it would mean for the people in the community.

Velez said a plan is being put together for the process of the ownership change.

“At this point financially the hospital is very stable,” he said, adding the entire transaction of the sale of the hospital will be done in 30 to 90 days.

He also talked about the seismic retrofit of five buildings at ECRMC that needs to be done.
