Lack of rain leaves area lakes at low levels

The National Centers for Environmental Information reported Branch County is only "abnormally dry," not yet a drought.

Dozens of lake property owners began complaining at two Branch County Commission meetings in July, requesting assistance from the drain commission.

Drain Commissioner Mike Hard said he could not control the weather that determined lake levels, which dropped substantially county-wide in August.
