Former Berlin and Locarno film festival director Carlo Chatrian will serve as the president of the international competition jury at the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF).
The jury, which has yet to be revealed, will consider around 15 titles and award several prizes including the grand prix at the festival, which is set to run October 27 to November 5.
Chatrian was artistic director at Locarno from 2013-18 and artistic director at the Berlinale from 2020-24. He has history with Japan having curated programmes focused on Japanese animation, including books, retrospectives, and exhibitions, and has visited the country multiple times for TIFF.
