TORONTO — Chandler Levack is winding up a summer she’ll never forget, thanks to a call from Adam Sandler.
The Toronto filmmaker says the “Happy Gilmore” star got in touch earlier this year, professing he was a big fan of her 2022 debut feature "I Like Movies." He asked if she would direct his next film for Netflix.
Levack says within days she was in Los Angeles, sitting alongside Sandler as the two pitched the movie “Roommates” to the streaming giant.
The $30-million production, filmed over the summer under Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions, features “Saturday Night Live” comedian Sarah Sherman, Natasha Lyonne, and Nick Kroll.
Levack says shooting the major motion picture was a step up from the indie-budgeted films she's used to making, partly because it featured scenes of stunt work
