In what can only be described as a performative waste of time, the city of Delray Beach had its day before the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The Sept. 2 administrative hearing was short on specifics, substance and time. In essence, the state agency extended the process with no conclusion for the city's lone LGBTQ+ designated crosswalk.

A brief exchange between attorneys with no detailed explanation to support the state's position other than art on street pavements are now illegal under the department's new guidelines, and no final date of what happens next or even when.
