Flunking a class is not usually rewarded or celebrated. Most of the time, it’s looked back on with regret.

But that wasn’t the case for new Eagles quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler . Failing a course at Michigan gave him an opportunity for a long and successful coaching career that now has him guiding one of the NFL’s most dynamic quarterbacks.

After Loeffler, a former Michigan QB, suffered a career-ending shoulder injury during his senior season (1996), his coaches planned to make him a student assistant the following year.

But there was one issue: To remain eligible, Loeffler needed to be enrolled as a student, and to remain one, he needed to fail a class to be short on credits.
