COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in Colleton County after hitting a dog that ran out into the road.

The man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle on Ruffin Road the evening of August 28 when fire-rescue officials said a dog ran out of some nearby woods and onto the road.

After crashing into the dog, the man’s motorcycle slid several hundred feet and came to rest in the middle of Ruffin Road.

Colleton County Fire Rescue said the man, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The dog was killed.

Bystanders helped the man until emergency crews arrived at the scene. He was treated initially before being taken to a hospital in North Charleston.
