Tropical activity picking up as we near peak of hurricane season

As Powerball fever grips the country, forecasters are keeping a close eye on something else: a tropical wave showing an increasing chance for development as it moves west across the Atlantic.

The tropical wave has a high chance for development over the next seven days and is likely to become a tropical depression later this week or over the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center.
