Business owners in the Farmers Market District are worried the area’s fragile recovery will be derailed if a rezoning request to build a food pantry and emergency shelter is approved by the Oklahoma City Council.

The business owners say they were caught by surprise when BJ’s Pantry, run by a Catholic nun, successfully sought rezoning in July from the Oklahoma City Planning Commission to allow for the operation for 1317 W. Reno Ave.
