OWENSBORO, Ky. — Hundreds of law enforcement officers, military veterans and motorcycle enthusiasts descended Wednesday in Owensboro for the annual national rally of the Defenders Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, a gathering blending the thrill of the open road with a commitment to charity and camaraderie.
The weeklong event, hosted at the Owensboro Convention Center, launched with riders arriving from across the U.S., including from as far away as Colorado.
The club, founded to unite active and retired first responders and others who share a passion for motorcycling, rotates its national convention to different cities each year. Owensboro was selected for its rich motorcycle history and welcoming community, said Michael Kovac, the club's national treasurer.
"This is a great location fo
