CHICAGO (WLS) -- I'm Jason Knowles with an I-Team Quick Tip to save you money.

If you've been hit with high credit card interest rates or fees, here's some good news, you may get a break.

A recent LendingTree report finds more than 4 in 5 cardholders who simply asked for a lower interest rate in the past year got their request granted. That's 83 percent, the highest success rate since the pandemic.

It's not just interest rates, 95 percent of people who asked to have annual fees waived or reduced got a "yes." And almost 90 percent got late fees were waived. The bottom line: Credit card companies are saying yes more often, but only if you ask.

So, pick up the phone and you could save yourself hundreds of dollars.
