Emma McCarthy scored twice and added an assist as Paul VI, ranked No. 2 in the NJ.com statewide Top 20, handed No. 20 Eastern a 6-2 setback on opening day in Haddon Township.

It was the Eagles’ third straight win over the Vikings, whom they defeated on opening day last season and again in the South Jersey Coaches Association Tournament semifinal. Eastern has allowed 16 goals over its last nine games and Paul VI, the defending Non-Public A state champion, has 12 of them.
