NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- New York City public school students heading back to the classroom on Thursday will get a brand new OMNY card to start the new semester.
The new student OMNY cards add some flair to the original green design, now incorporating some splashes of orange, blue and yellow.
"The card design was developed by the MTA to enhance its physical appearance," a spokesperson for the transit agency told PIX11 News.
The updated design is also expected to help students, schools and MTA staff know that the cards are current for this school year at a glance, the spokesperson said.
The MTA unveiled the first iteration of student OMNY cards at the start of the 2024 school year to replace the original student MetroCard.
