Long Beach Yacht Club librarian Kirk Brown and Senior Staff Commodore Drew Satariano are compiling information to write a history book on the history of the Congressional Cup.
They are about 100 pages in on a book the duo envision will be at least 200 pages of never-before-published stories.
I met with them last week and they’re looking for some of the connections that take place between different events and the “Granddaddy of Match Racing.”
There are plenty, and great yacht regattas like Transpac, America’s Cup and the Newport to Ensenada race – along with smaller races like Long Beach to La Paz — all played a role.
