(WKYT) - In the lead-up to America turning 250 years old, we are looking back at every day in ‘This Day In History.’

On this date in 1998, the search engine Google was formally incorporated.

Google was founded by two students at Stanford University - Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

They were able to raise about $1 million from investors, family, and friends and set up shop in Menlo Park, California, under the name Google.

It began as an online search firm, but it now offers more than 50 internet services and products.
