Don’t freak out, but Kate Middleton is blonde now. Last month, pictures of the Princess of Wales surfaced that revealed her apparently lighter hair. But because they were captured through a car window, it was impossible to tell just how much lighter. Well, today it was confirmed: she is officially a blonde.

Appearing alongside her husband Prince William during a visit to the National History Museum on Thursday, Middleton’s famously chestnut-brown hair looked significantly lighter, styled in loose waves and reaching long past the middle of her back. In contrast to her signature dark waves and side-parted blow-dry , her new look is a distinct change—lighter, parted just off centre, and with a much more distinct curl to the ends.
