In the fall of 1967, Selma resident Dilcy Windham Hilley was among the local teens chosen to be in a party scene in a big-time Hollywood movie being filmed in Selma and surrounding cities.

The film version of the iconic Carson McCullers novel “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” debuted in theaters in July 1968. A reviewer said the film “beautifully photographed Selma in all its Southern charm and splendor.”

“I wore an old bridesmaid’s dress I borrowed from my sister,” recalled Hilley. She is listed on the Internet Movie Database as portraying “Girl in Yellow Dress at Party.”
