MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Monroe County Grand Jury has returned indictments against several members of the sheriff’s office’s jail staff and two nurses after the February death of Elijah Isbill.
Isbill died in Monroe County custody in February, sparking an investigation by District Attorney Stephen Hatchett. Originally, the Knox County Regional Forensic Center ruled Isbill’s death as accidental, saying he had several existing health conditions prior to being taken into custody. Last month, the forensic center updated its findings and ruled Isbill’s death a homicide.
Wednesday, the grand jury returned indictments for the following people:
Joshua Duncan, Tommy Reagan, Tyler Finger, Elijah Spencer and Jerron Henry, current and former members of the sheriff’s office, were indicted on
