CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A deputy sheriff who resigned from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office last week is now under indictment on a felony charge, state and local records show.
Davyne Davis, 36, of Mason, faces one count of theft in office, according to a Hamilton County grand jury report released Wednesday.
He is accused of working two details on Aug. 5 and fraudulently submitting hours that resulted in the theft of $6,000, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.
He resigned from the sheriff’s office on Aug. 25 “In good standing (No Pending Discipline,” according to his online officer history page with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
Davis worked at the sheriff’s office for just under two years. His start date is listed in state records as Aug. 31, 2023.
