Giorgio Armani, respected designer and fashion industry icon, died at age 91 on September 4, Reuters reported. While Armani was not married at the time of his death, he was in a long-term relationship with Sergio Galeotti until the fellow designer's death in 1985.

The designer's eponymous fashion house released a statement shared by Reuters following the news, saying, "With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani." The statement didn't confirm the cause of death, but in June, an unknown illness had caused him to miss Milan Men's Fashion Week.
