AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Aiken County high school has been named the best public school in South Carolina.

Aiken Scholars Academy has been recognized as the number one public high school in the state, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The school also ranks number 10 on the national level.

Here’s an update on school safety officers in Aiken County

We have new updates on the number of school resource officers in Aiken County, now that they're fully funded by the state.

In 2021, school officials celebrated the completion of its newly constructed building on the University of South Carolina Aiken campus .

The academy opened for the 2018-2019 school year with its first cohort of 50 students.
