A building roof replacement will lead to a nearly monthlong street closure in downtown Columbia.
Work starts at 7 a.m. Sept. 8 with the closure of a portion of the northbound lane of North Eighth Street for equipment around the Guitar Building at 28 N. Eighth St. Work is expected to last through 5 p.m. Sept. 26.
This means during the closure:
Only southbound traffic is allowed between East Walnut Street and the alley;
Northbound traffic from East Broadway will detour through the alley; and
Signs will guide drivers around the closure.
Drivers still will have full access to the Eighth and Walnut Plaza Parking Garage. Northbound traffic cannot use the southbound lane to get into the Eighth Street gate and cannot turn left onto Eiighth Street when leaving the garage. So, those entering t
