LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An officer was injured Thursday morning in an explosion under a west Lincoln bridge, police say.

Around 7 a.m., officers responded to a camp under a bridge near North First and West O streets.

LPD said something in a campfire had exploded, and Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were called to put it out.

An LPD officer was injured in the explosion. They had burnt skin and hair, according to police.

It’s unknown what caused the explosion.
