LA CENTER, Wash. (KPTV) - Teachers in the La Center School District hit the picket line Thursday after negotiations for a new contract broke down.
The La Center School District and the La Center Education Association are expected to continue negotiations again Thursday afternoon. Teachers say they’re fighting for a pay increase to keep up with the cost of living.
Schools closed Wednesday and Thursday while negotiations are ongoing.
The district says it should have an update on plans for school Friday by 8 p.m. Thursday, at the latest. Updates will be posted to the district’s Facebook page .
