MADISON (WKOW) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Department of Health Services (DHS) announced Thursday new advisories on wildlife consumption in the northern part of the state.

The first advisory was issued for deer and fish consumption in the Town of Stella due to PFAS contamination.

The DNR and DHS have issued a "Do Not Eat" advisory for all fish species in the Moen Chain of Lakes, Sunset Lake, Starks Creek, and Snowden Lake. Elevated levels of PFOS, a type of PFAS, were found in fish tissues, prompting the advisory.

"Following fish and wildlife consumption advisories will help protect you from consuming PFAS-contaminated tissue," said a spokesperson in a press release.
