United Transformation Movement (UTM) presidential running mate, Matthews Mtumbuka, has accused the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of sidelining the legacy of Orton Chirwa, Malawi’s first Attorney General and a founding figure of the MCP.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Nkhatabay, Mtumbuka criticised the government for failing to fulfil promises such as the construction of the Orton Chirwa Mausoleum and the long-promised Mzuzu Airport.

He argued that the lack of action on these projects shows disregard for the Northern Region’s development and historical figures.

Mtumbuka urged Malawians to support UTM presidential candidate Dalitso Kabambe in the upcoming September 16 elections, promising that a UTM-led administration would honour Chirwa’s legacy and deliver meaningful developme
