EXCLUSIVE: Picturehouse Entertainment has picked up UK-Ireland rights for Ira Sachs’ Peter Hujar’s Day , starring Ben Whishaw and Rebecca Hall.

The Sundance and Berlinale title will be released theatrically in the territory on January 2 2026, after playing at BFI London Film Festival in October.

Picturehouse acquired the UK-Ireland rights from Janus Films, which holds the North American rights, and will partner on release strategy and the marketing campaign.

The film follows a conversation recorded in 1974 between photographer Peter Hujar and writer Linda Rosenkrantz. Their talk that day focused on a single 24-hours in the life of Hujar, the famously uncompromising artist who was one of the most important figures in downtown New York’s iconic cultural scene of the 1970s and ‘80s, s
