Michigan redshirt freshman wide receiver Channing Goodwin was supposed to be a rotational piece at best this year, at least according to the internet prognosticators. It was a moderately large surprise when head coach Sherrone Moore announced last week that Goodwin would be one of the starters at the position.

Goodwin had a nice first start in the Big House, catching two passes for 49 yards — including a 39-yard catch and run — against New Mexico. He’ll look to build off that performance in Week 2 at Oklahoma.

Channing’s recruiting profile was that of a precise route-runner with sure hands, but lacking in athleticism. Standing at 6-foot-1, he’s by no means the intimidating presence off the bus that some of the other Michigan receivers possess, but he has a valued skillset nonetheless.
