A 6-year-old child was hospitalized, and a horse is dead after an Amish horse-drawn wagon carrying eight people was struck by a vehicle in upstate New York, authorities said.

On Monday, Sept. 1, around 5:37 p.m. local time, troopers responded to a report of a crash on Route 5 close to Bellinger Road in Danube, a town of less than 1,000 people in Herkimer County, the New York State Police said in a news release.
