State police have arrested a Groton man who is accused of going 120 miles per hour on Interstate 395 while trying to get away from a state trooper.

State police said a state trooper saw a Lexus RS 350 sport utility vehicle speeding on I-395 North near exit 22 in Griswold around 2:25 a.m. Wednesday and sped up to catch up to it and clock the speed.

The trooper found that the driver was going up to 105 miles per hour and turned on the emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the Lexus, but the driver kept going and sped up to 120 miles per hour and got off the highway at exit 24, state police said.

The trooper then ended the pursuit and identified a suspect through the registration plate information.
