SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A lawsuit filed in California alleges that a generative AI app played a role in a teenager's suicide, highlighting concerns about the impact of AI on mental health.

Generative AI platforms have gained popularity among younger generations for their ability to create text on any topic, but they may also pose risks. The family of the deceased teen claims that the AI app is partially responsible for their child's death.

Dr. Pamela McPherson, a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Ochsner LSU Health, emphasizes the importance of monitoring children's screen time. "Screens can connect us with the world. But they can also introduce topics that teens and children just aren't ready for," she said.
