Joseph Sirl Pinner (Weymouth Funeral Home & Crematory)

Joseph Sirl Pinner, 57, took the Lord’s hand on August 22, 2025, after a long battle with complications from diabetes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton S. “Red” and Brenda Thomas Pinner, and half-brothers, Robert “Bobby” and Michael Carter.

Joseph was born in Newport News on September 22, 1967. He attended Newport News public schools. Joe worked in HVAC, construction, and lawn maintenance. He then spent a number of years working for the Town of Smithfield Water Authority and later the City of Roanoke Water Works.

He was a talented musician, playing drums, guitar, bass, and banjo.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Beyers Pinner of Roanoke, his first wife, Jill Peters Pinner of Smithfield, and many lifelong friends.
