The Boston Red Sox are unplugging Jordan Hicks.
Hicks is being placed on the injured list with a shoulder issue ahead of Friday’s series-opening game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo. Underdog Fantasy’s Jared Carrabis was first to break the news regarding Hicks, who will not be eligible to return until Sept. 19.

Hicks has been horrific since being acquired as part of the Rafael Devers trade with the San Francisco Giants in June, allowing 17 earned runs across 21 appearances — including four earned runs that were allowed while recording just a single out in Wednesday’s blowout loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
Hicks is now rocking an 8.20 ERA.
