Marin County emergency officials are getting ready to "stomp out" wildfire risks.

Residents are encouraged to start Saturday with a self-paced evacuation drill with their families. Then there will be a wildfire preparedness festival at the Marin County Fairgrounds with hands-on demonstrations and other emergency preparedness tools.

Attendees will also get to chat with firefighters and learn how to keep their family and home safe.

Saturday's free event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds in San Rafael. Anyone planning to attend can RSVP at firesafemarin.org .
