SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Spirit Airlines will cut all service in and out of Salt Lake City effective Oct. 2.

Tommy Fletcher, the manager of media relations for Spirit Airlines, stated that the decision was made as a result to transform the company and achieve long-term success.

"We are adjusting our network to focus on our strongest performing markets. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue service," said Fletcher.

Other affected airlines

The Salt Lake International Airport is not the only airport affected by the cuts. Fletcher stated that service will also be cut in Albuquerque (ABQ), Birmingham (BHM), Boise (BOI), Chattanooga (CHA), Columbia (CAE), Oakland (OAK), Portland (PDX), Sacramento (SMF), San Diego (SAN) and San Jose (SJC).
