During National Food Bank Day, Cathedral City’s senior center will host a food drive Friday to feed residents of the city.

The event will be held from 9 a.m through 4 p.m. Friday at 37171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave.

Items the organization urgently needs includes pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, soup and canned vegetables. Staff will be on site to collect donations.

The food bank feeds 450 households every Monday. It is run by volunteers, who contributed about 16,000 hours of service last year.

“Every donation goes directly to feeding people. That’s the heart of what makes this effort so special. We are open to all — no ID required,” the senior center said in a statement.
