Thirty-two people are in custody due to Operation First Light, a multi-unit effort to locate and arrest individuals with outstanding felony warrants out of Decatur.

According to Decatur Police, Chief Torry Mack instructed officers to begin the operation on Aug. 4.

Over the course of several weeks, 10 individuals were located and taken into custody for their outstanding warrants. Eight individuals were found to be incarcerated elsewhere and will face extradition back to Decatur once those charges are satisfied.

On Tuesday, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Unit, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and SWAT team made contact with 10 additional individuals and took them into custody.
