SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - A homeless woman has been arrested in Sparks for allegedly stabbing a man who let her stay in his apartment.

On Monday afternoon, just before 5:00, the Sparks Police Department received a call of a stabbing. The caller also told police they were following the suspect.

Police say the pants worn by the stabbing suspect, Makayln West, were covered in blood. SPD says West ignored police commands and moved towards the K9 officer, who then deployed the K9 and subdued West.

Officers then arrived at the area where the stabbing was reported, 2314 Greyhaven Lane, and found a 72-year-old male victim inside the apartment with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Renown and was rushed into surgery with life threatening injuries.
