WARREN The verdict is in for a Warren man who was accused of raping a woman in Champion Township.

A jury found 64-year-old John Baker not guilty of rape, but did find him guilty of the two other charges against him including felonious assault and kidnapping. This verdict came after a trial that began Tuesday, June 2 and lasted until Thursday afternoon, with the jury entering deliberations around 1 p.m.

Sentencing will take place following a pre-sentence investigation. No sentencing date has been set yet.

According to a police report, Baker was accused of entering a woman's bedroom and forcing himself on her after she told him she was going to bed. Police said Baker told the woman, "I need you. I knew I would get to you."
