The Hobart City Council unanimously gave final rezoning approval to a property on Wednesday, specifying that it must be used solely as the site of a data center.

Residents who packed the meeting room weren’t shy about voicing their displeasure, especially when told public comment wasn’t allowed immediately after the vote.

“That’s pretty bold. At least hear people out,” yelled one woman as she walked out of the room.

The city council rezoning vote, from R-3 to M-1 on 400 acres at the southeast corner of 61st Avenue and Colorado Street, included an amendment that the property must be used as a data center only.
