LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper has announced his retirement just days after signing, reports say.

Reports from NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo said Cooper told the club he “no longer has the desire to play” and plans on retiring.

Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said he was excited to work with Cooper, but that the Raiders would move forward. Kelly noted that a young wide receiver would now get an opportunity with the team.

Cooper signed a one-year contract on Aug. 25, according to NFL Insiders. He was selected fourth overall by the Raiders in 2025. He was traded to Dallas mid-season in 2018 and then played for the Browns. He was traded to the Buffalo Bills during the 2024 season.
