The state of Indiana is slashing the subsidies it pays to providers taking care of children from low-income families while their parents are working, in school or actively looking for a job.
The administration of Republican Gov. Mike Braun said Thursday it was compelled to reduce Child Care and Development Fund voucher reimbursement rates by 10 to 35% to close an estimated $225 million funding shortfall left by Republican former Gov. Eric Holcomb.
Under the plan, CCDF voucher reimbursements are declining 10% for infants and toddlers up to three years old, 15% for preschoolers between ages 3 and 5 and 35% for school-age children.
Data show approximately 55,000 Hoosier children receive child care supported by CCDF vouchers. Their parents likely will have fewer options if care
