NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – An online tennis gear shop is accusing the US Open of copying its t-shirt design.

Bageled NYC makes merch that combines New York City bagels and the tennis term “bagel,” which refers to a set that ends with a score of 6-0. Its owners are claiming the United States Tennis Association is selling an overly similar design at the US Open, depicting a cartoon bagel with a tennis racket.

In a letter to the USTA, owners Sam Burns and Michael Foronda noted similar elements like the bagel’s hands, shoes, face placement, and the words “served fresh daily,” which appear on both shirts in capital letters.

“The similarity of the two designs is vividly apparent,” they wrote.
