JACKSON, Miss. - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved nearly $3 million for the state of Mississippi to help cover costs of emergency measures the state took during significant flooding in Jackson, the agency announced Tuesday.
FEMA said the $2.8 million grant includes funding for Jackson's efforts "to protect life and property during water treatment plant inundation in 2022."
The agency said they were providing the grant through their Public Assistance Program, "which funds response and recovery work for state and local governments as well as certain types of non-profit organizations."
FEMA said these projects are paid for with at least 75% federal government funding.
