The Chicago Cubs have made a roster move, claiming pitcher Aaron Civale on waivers from the Chicago White Sox.

In a corresponding move, the Cubs designated pitcher Tom Cosgrove for assignment, the team announced prior to Sunday’s game against the Rockies.

The White Sox had acquired Civale in a trade earlier this year that sent slugger Andrew Vaughn to the Milwaukee Brewers, and he struggled in 13 starts with Chicago, posting a 5.37 ERA and a 2-7 record in those contests.

In his MLB career, Civale has a 4.18 ERA in 135 starts, with 651 strikeouts in 725.1 innings of work.

With the addition of Civale to their roster, the Cubs’ 40-man roster now stands at 40 players.

The Cubs acquired Cosgrove from the Padres in early April, and he has appeared in just two games with the North Siders,
