FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Clovis mother was convicted after a one-day trial of arming her son with her handgun and telling him not to do anything “crazy,” according to the federal Department of Justice.

On Wednesday, federal prosecutors found 45-year-old Jawana Washington, of Fresno, guilty of aiding and abetting a felon’s possession of a firearm as well as disposing of a firearm to a felon.

According to the evidence presented at trial, Washington knowingly provided a firearm to her son, Taylor Washington, a documented gang member and convicted felon.

Washington agreed on March 25, 2022, to lend him her firearm, warning him not to do anything “crazy,” to use his own ammunition, and not to get her sent to jail. When Taylor Washington arrived, agents reported seeing him at his mother
