I have a secret fondness for dandelions. I say “secret” because it’s not something I advertise. After all, who wants a yard filled with weeds? They’re the ones people usually discuss. “Have you seen her yard lately? Why would anyone let it go like that?”
We’ve heard the talk. We may have said the words a time or two ourselves. And how are those viewed who cherish something considered a weed? Certainly not with admiration.
Dandelions are the leper of the flower world. People don’t want to see them in their yards or even give them a thought. During Jesus’ day, if a leper was walking on the road and saw healthy people approaching, he was required to yell out, “Unclean! Unclean!” He was viewed as worse than a weed. He was contagious.
So, no. I don’t tell others that I like dand
