CBS’ new singing competition The Road will borrow some successful aspects of American Idol and The Voice by featuring fancy guest mentors of its own.
Country stars Dustin Lynch and Karen Fairchild, together with Jordan Davis and Brothers Osbourne, will appear in the first season of the elimination-style competition that features Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and Gretchen Wilson.
The show will follow 12 musicians who go on the road as the opening act for Urban. They will compete to win over local fanbases to secure a spot in the next city and remain on the tour. The winner will receive a record contract and $250,000.
The Road premieres Oct. 19.
