A 23-year-old man was sentenced in Yukon Territorial Court on Aug. 28 after pleading guilty to nine charges, including drug trafficking, firearms offences, release order violations and acts of violence linked to organized crime.
Judge Elaine Cairns sentenced Taylor Duke to 11 years in prison, granting 18 months credit for time he had already served in custody while awaiting trial.
The offences included possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking, a loaded AR-15 carbine and a 3D-printed Glock 17 handgun obtained during the commission of a crime. Duke also conspired to traffic cocaine and commit arson, and assaulted a person with a firearm, causing bodily harm.
Duke was under a 2022 release order that barred him from possessing firearms, a condition he pleaded guilty to breaching
