LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Spring brought floods that inundated homes and businesses on River Road, but summer brought another disruption that some say was even more costly.
Restaurant owners around Harrod’s Creek say a Louisville Water pipe replacement project is driving customers away.
“The flood was damaging. It was costly. But we are insured for that,” Andrew Masterson, Captain’s Quarters co-owner, said. “This construction loss of business is not insured, and it is even more costly than the flood damage.”
Signs warning of construction, road closures, and detours first appeared in March.
Masterson said receipts are down 25 percent from last year.
“And it’s not just costly to us. It’s costly to our employees,” Masterson said. “I looked, our tips, just the money servers are walking out
